History
Building Specialist, LLC, was established in 1973 by founder Terry L.
Ferra. Terry is a third-generation entrepreneur preceded by his grandfather,
John Ferra. John funded his engineering degree by winning $1,500.00 in
the national bull riding championship in 1902, and worked as a civil
engineer for the United Verde Mining Company. After founding the John L.
Ferra General Contracting business, he built over 100 hundred homes on
Cleopatra Hill, several city structures, and his greatest accomplishment:
a 12 mile water pipeline. Built in 1928, from the mountains above, it still
supplies water to Jerome today.
George Ferra, the son of John, was a finance and tax preparation
business owner in the state of Arizona for many decades.
George Ferra’s son, Terry Ferra quickly grew Building Specialist in
his grandfather’s footsteps into a company that built schools, fire stations,
and community centers statewide. He has spent much of his time remodeling
the Mountain Shadows resort, and John Gardiner’s Tennis Ranch (now know as
“Sanctuary”). He later expanded into major renovations of estates owned by
the CEO’s of Motorola, DuPont, Dow, Coors Brewing Company, Smuckers’ Jellies,
Pike Grain Company, and many other notable businessmen.
Since 1973, Building Specialist has continued the family tradition of
hard work and high standards through Terry’s son, Duane Ferra, and Duane’s
son Darryl Ferra. They work solely to maintain customer satisfaction and
innovate new ways to improve their clients’ future through perseverance and
customer commitment.

Terry Ferra
CEO/Founder
Terry L. Ferra is our founder and CEO for Building Specialist, LLC.
He has worked in general contracting and construction for over 35 years.
Terry began Building Specialist in 1973 developing a reliable subcontractor
base in the commercial construction environment. He built his reputation
as an honest and committed business leader in the Phoenix area.

Duane Ferra
VP/Director of Operations
Duane Ferra began working in construction as a young boy assisting
his father in the family business. As Director of Operations, Duane
understands the value of people. For the last 25 years, he has always
preserved his high standards in business ethics inside today’s challenging
economical environment.

Darryl Ferra
Project Coordinator/Estimator
As the latest generation Ferra to work for Building Specialist, Darryl
works with clients and inspectors to solve engineering and architectural
challenges. His demand for quality and customer satisfaction at all levels
is only shadowed by his continued innovation and creativity.

Craig Gibson
Senior Project Manager
Craig has been an anchor to Building Specialist for 5 years. With
10 years of experience with OSHA and related safety programs, he has lead
Building Specialist to a solid track record without serious injuries on
project sites.

Mario Andrade
Senior Project Manager
Mario has 30 years of experience as a senior electrician in the industrial,
residential and commercial fields. His knowledge of electrical installations,
safety procedures, and project coordination has only increased the speed
of project completions, and supported a safe working environment. His demand
for quality and performance has been demonstrated by our customer satisfaction.

Luke Niebergall
Electrical Supervisor
Luke is a third generation electrician with over 10 years of hands on
experience in residential, commercial and industrial projects. Luke graduated
from a 5 year college accredited program with over 9,000 hours of on job training,
ranking at the top of his class in motor controls and transformers. His other
trade skills and experience include print reading, welding/fabrication, A/C,
heating, HVAC, plumbing, framing, roofing, acoustic ceilings, rough and finish
carpentry and industrial equipment.

Mauro Sanchez
Framing/ Drywall Supervisor
Mauro has a wide variety of skills that extends from metal stud construction
into the wallboard installation and various wallboard finishes, painting,
including stucco synthetic/cement products. His supervision and experience
includes renovations for Motorola and Intel where projects were completed
under budget and on time through very strict guidelines. Mauro communicates
with his crews to complete projects efficiently while keeping the work
environment clean and safe.
